Curve Presets

Use Presets above a parameter curve editor to choose a reusable curve shape. The same global library is available in Lists and Nodes for Particles and Pyro.

Presets are available for Remapping Curve, lifetime curves for radius, mass and scale, Spin range easing, Dendrite branch length, Flow Field response and falloff curves, and the Trails thickness Profile. Enable the parameter's curve option to display its editor. Collider Source: Weight Map has no remapping curve and does not offer curve presets.

Apply a shape

  1. Open Presets above the curve editor.
  2. Select Factory or User. Search filters curves by name in that section; Page browses the filtered results.
  3. Click the shape's name to apply it, then close the dialog.

Applying replaces the curve's control points, handle types, extrapolation and editing bounds. Mapping source, input and output ranges, Apply Mode, Influence and other surrounding parameters retain their values. The result remains editable. Undo restores the previous curve.

Applied curves are independent of the library entry. Editing a curve, renaming a preset or deleting a preset does not update curves previously loaded from that preset. Loading a curve changes only the active setup; Lists and Nodes keep separate settings.

Factory shapes

Shape Response over the normalized 0 to 1 interval
Linear Even increase from 0 to 1
Inverse Even decrease from 1 to 0
Ease In Starts slowly and increases more quickly toward the end
Ease Out Increases quickly at first and slows toward the end
Smooth S Slow start and end with a faster middle
Bell Rises from 0 to a peak of 1 at the midpoint, then returns to 0
Valley Falls from 1 to 0 at the midpoint, then returns to 1
Plateau Rises to 1, holds through the middle and falls to 0
Sharp Transition Changes from 0 to 1 over a narrow interval around the midpoint; the transition is continuous
Constant 0 Returns 0 throughout the interval
Constant 1 Returns 1 throughout the interval

Factory shapes use normalized values. For Data Mapping, the existing Output Range determines the resulting parameter values.

Save and exchange user curves

  • Save Current Curve stores the editable curve globally under a unique name. User presets persist across projects and Blender sessions.
  • User shows saved curves, with Rename, Export Curve Preset and Delete Curve Preset actions. Deletion requires confirmation.
  • Export Curve Preset writes one factory or user curve as JSON. Choose a filename and location in Blender's file browser.
  • Import JSON adds a curve to the user library. It does not apply the curve. An optional name can be provided during import. Duplicate names receive a numbered suffix.

The JSON contains the curve, including individual handle types and extrapolation. It does not contain a whole mapping layer, effect, mesh or simulation setup. Use Setup Presets to transfer a complete configuration.

The library is shared between Blender instances. Updates appear when the manager redraws or is reopened. If the library is busy, retry after the other instance finishes writing.
