Pyro Nodes

Build Pro Pyro simulations in the Pro Physics editor by connecting Domain to Dynamics. Add optional stages between them, and connect sources, colliders, forces and mappings to the appropriate inputs.

Where to find it

Use Shift+A > Pyro for Domain, Sources, Colliders and stage nodes; Pyro Forces and Pyro Data Mapping have their own Shift+A categories. A minimal branch can also be created from the Pro Physics Project sidebar with Add Pyro.

Required Pyro chain

A Pyro setup in Nodes requires this chain:

Pyro Domain → optional stage nodes → Pyro Dynamics → Simulation Output / Pyro

Only Pyro Dynamics can connect to Simulation Output / Pyro. Dynamics must be the final Pyro stage; no stage can be placed after it. The scene can have only one active Pyro branch.

Optional stages override the corresponding settings on Pyro Domain. Leave a stage out to use the Domain's defaults for that feature.

See Pro Pyro Overview for simulation setup and the linked Pyro pages for detailed controls.

Pyro Source

Optional input: Particles
Output: Source

Connect one or more Pyro Source outputs to the Domain's multi-input Sources. A source can use Blender geometry/volumes or a connected Pro Particles stream according to its source configuration. The Inspector exposes the complete source type, emission channels, motion and mapping controls.

See Sources, Colliders & Forces.

Pyro Collider

Output: Collider

Connect to Pyro Domain / Colliders. Configure the collider on the node. Its controls work the same way as Pyro colliders in Lists.

Pyro Force nodes

Every force node outputs Force and connects to the Domain's multi-input Forces socket.

  • Pyro Vortex
  • Pyro Wind
  • Pyro Attract
  • Pyro Curl Noise
  • Pyro FBM Noise
  • Pyro Simplex Noise
  • Pyro Classic Turbulence
  • Pyro Wavy Turbulence
  • Pyro Voronoise
  • Pyro Cubic Noise
  • Pyro Follow Curve
  • Pyro Sink

Their physical controls are documented under Sources, Colliders & Forces.

Pyro Data Mapping nodes

Each Pyro Map: … node reads one source and outputs a Mapping. Connect mappings through Previous to set their evaluation order, then connect the last Mapping output to a supported input on Pyro Dynamics, Pyro Source or a Pyro Force.

Every target parameter accepts one Mapping chain. A Mapping cycle or multiple independent links to one single mapping target is invalid.

Pyro field sources

  • Pyro Map: Smoke Density
  • Pyro Map: Temperature
  • Pyro Map: Fuel
  • Pyro Map: Flame
  • Pyro Map: Pressure
  • Pyro Map: Color Luminance
  • Pyro Map: Color R
  • Pyro Map: Color G
  • Pyro Map: Color B

Velocity sources

  • Pyro Map: Speed
  • Pyro Map: Velocity X
  • Pyro Map: Velocity Y
  • Pyro Map: Velocity Z

Space, procedural and time sources

  • Pyro Map: Position X
  • Pyro Map: Position Y
  • Pyro Map: Position Z
  • Pyro Map: Distance
  • Pyro Map: Noise
  • Pyro Map: Time

Emitter-data sources

  • Pyro Map: Vertex Weight
  • Pyro Map: Color Attribute Luminance
  • Pyro Map: Color Attribute R
  • Pyro Map: Color Attribute G
  • Pyro Map: Color Attribute B
  • Pyro Map: Color Attribute A
  • Pyro Map: Particle Color Luminance
  • Pyro Map: Particle Color R
  • Pyro Map: Particle Color G
  • Pyro Map: Particle Color B

Available mapping sources depend on the connected node and simulation mode. Emitter data needs a compatible Pyro Source configuration, and Fuel/Flame need fire data. Pressure and color are not available as general-purpose sources for every Sparse operation. Unsupported combinations are hidden or show an error.

Mapping targets

Pyro Dynamics mapping targets cover motion detail, environment, dissipation and combustion values. Pyro Source targets cover Smoke, Temperature, Fuel, Flame, Pressure and source color channels. Pyro Force mapping targets depend on the force type; for example Wind exposes Strength/Acceleration, Follow Curve exposes Strength/Attract and Sink exposes Absorption/Velocity Damping.

See Particle & Pyro Interaction for cross-simulation data exchange and the Pyro parameter pages for the meaning of each target.

Live Volume output

Pyro Dynamics / Volume makes the live Pyro simulation available to particle and deformable effects. Connect it to:

  • Emitter / Pyro to enable supported Cloth, Soft Body or Strands ↔ Pyro coupling;
  • Volume Advection / Pyro Volume to sample the live Pro Pyro field instead of an external VDB.

Troubleshooting

  • A Pyro stage will not connect to Simulation Output: only Pyro Dynamics may be the final Pyro state.
  • A stage after Dynamics is rejected: move every optional stage before Dynamics.
  • A second Pyro branch is rejected: one active Pyro branch is allowed per scene graph.
  • A Mapping target rejects a source: the connected node or simulation mode does not provide that data. Choose a compatible mapping source or enable the required Pyro channel.
  • Deformable/Pyro coupling does not activate: connect Pyro Dynamics / Volume to the deformable Emitter's Pyro input and enable the relevant coupling controls in the Emitter Inspector.
