Output & Performance

Choose how to display a simulation, save finished frames or export them. For slow scenes and high GPU memory use, start with Performance & VRAM.

Choose a task

Task Open
save and reuse curve shapes used by supported controls Curve Presets
read particle attributes in materials and Geometry Nodes Particle Info
export a terrain mesh, heightfield or material texture Terrain Export
save, apply or exchange complete simulation configurations Setup Presets
display particles, build trails, instance geometry, create a surface or add presentation detail Post Effects
keep simulation results, create persistent Blender geometry or export Alembic Caching & Output
diagnose slow scenes or high VRAM use and choose the correct quality control Performance & VRAM

Processing order

Post effects turn the finished simulation into Point Cloud, Trails, Instance, Mesher, Upres or Dendrite output. Cache or export that output to replay it, use it elsewhere in Blender or transfer it to another application.

For performance problems, check simulation resolution, particle count, preview and generated geometry separately. Reduce the cost of the part causing the slowdown.

Terrain has a separate static graph and export nodes. Its mesh and texture exports do not use particle Output Cache or timeline playback; see Pro Terrain.
